BACKGROUND
In 2013 Tabor Academy and The High School Attached to People’s University in Beijing created a partnership for curriculum planning and student and faculty visits. RDFZ XISHAN SCHOOL is a branch of one of China’s top high schools, with a joint Chinese and Western curriculum that includes Advanced Placement Classes along with traditional Chinese subjects.
- RDFZ and Tabor faculty have visited each other’s campuses since then, including both Heads of School.
- Ten RDFZ students and two faculty came to Tabor last April for a one-week exchange consisting of study, recreation, local day trips, and home stays with nearby Tabor families.
- This produced an invitation from RDFZ to Tabor to send a group of students to visit RDFZ in March 2017 for study, local tours, home stays, and making friends.
PROGRAM FEATURES
- Cost for 2018 program is $800, including air fare from Boston, visa, and most living expenses.
- Students are advised to bring $200 spending money, also small gifts for host family.
- Tabor students will each stay with the family of an RDFZ student, or live in a school dormitory at the school.
- Up to ten current Tabor students may attend the program. Chinese language students have priority, but all students may apply.
- Day Students joining this trip are encouraged to welcome RDFZ students for home stays in April
- Deadline for sign-up for the 2018 program is December 4th, 2017. Payments should be made payable to "Tabor Academy", or money transfered from Tuition or Taborbucks account.
- Tabor’s Health Center will review student health records and advise students and parents on immunizations or precautions as needed. Parents will also be asked to sign and notarize permission for their child to join this trip.
- Tabor subscribes to risk management and emergency care programs for its overseas trips.
